There will be no further Intel build.

Why now

The timetable is Apple’s, not ours:

macOS 26 is the last version for Intel Macs. macOS 27 runs on Apple Silicon only.

Rosetta 2 is being retired — the translation layer that lets Intel programs run on newer Macs is supported for the last time in macOS 27 and largely disappears after that.

Since macOS 26.4 the operating system warns at launch when a program runs through Rosetta.

On top of that comes something you do not see from the outside: several of the components the detection is built on are no longer published for Intel Macs by their own makers. Maintaining an Intel build would mean standing on an ever older foundation — and doing so precisely where the detection is meant to get faster and better.

What this means for Intel Mac users

Plainly, without softening it: there will be no further build for Intel Macs, and we do not guarantee continued operation on those machines either. If you use DrawingStamp Pro on an Intel Mac, plan for a move to an Apple Silicon machine or to Windows.

If this affects you, please get in touch through the support portal or the contact form. We would like to know who is affected — we would rather hear it from you than learn it later from an error report.

What changes for everyone else

For users on Apple Silicon something changes for the better, even if it stays invisible at first: until now the macOS build ran as an Intel program through Rosetta 2 — translated, in other words. From now on it runs directly on the processor it was built for. The macOS launch warning goes away, and we are no longer tied to library versions that still happen to exist for Intel.

Windows and Linux are unaffected. Windows remains a 64-bit build as before, and this decision changes nothing about the plans for Linux.

Where things stand

The macOS build is currently being rebuilt for Apple Silicon; that includes the low-level components and the bundled text recognition, all of which have to be produced afresh for the new architecture. For that reason the beta deliveries of the past few days temporarily contain the Windows build only. The next macOS delivery will be an Apple Silicon program.

We are deliberately not naming a date while the checks on the new architecture have yet to run through. Beta testers will hear it first, as always — in the release notes for the delivery in question.

An announcement that affects Mac users directly: DrawingStamp Pro no longer supports Macs with an Intel processor.
